2ND ALARM FATAL FIRE
Date: 2/22/06 Telesqurt 34, Engine 34, 34-7, and 34-7A were dispatched to assist Oakmont Fire Company on a 2nd alarm at an apartment fire located at 2323 E. Darby Rd., in the Oakmont section of Haverford Township. LFC crews and crews of Rescue 58 performed a primary search on the upper floors, while crews from Oakmont and Brookline extinguished the fire and searched the first floor. Numerous occupants were rescued from the apartment building as it filled with smoke. During the search of the apartment involved in the fire, a victim was located and transported by 34-7 to Delaware County Memorial Hospital for treatment. Despite valiant efforts the 5 year old victim's injuries proved to be fatal. Displaced victims were transported by Haverford Township School District buses to the Brookline Fire Hall where the Red Cross had set up a temporary shelter.The fire is currently under investigation by the Haverford Twp. Fire Marshal, Haverford Twp Police, Delaware County Fire Marshal and the State Police Fire Marshal. Photos by Brian Feeney.

SOME MORE CONGRATULATIONS ON ORDER!
Date: 2/21/06 This time, they are engaged. Although not to each other, EMS Lt. Shawn Pettit and FF Greg Speck both recently got engaged. Lt. Petit proposed to Jennifer Dorfman, and Greg Speck proposed to Bridget Hand. Both beautiful brides-to-be said yes! The Llanerch Fire Company's family continues to grow! Congratulations to both couples!

Date: 2/9/06 No, they didn't just get engaged. Lt. Steve Devenney and Teri O'Brien did just finish their EMS certifications however. Steve is now an EMT-P (Paramedic) and Teri finished up her EMT-B (Basic). Congratulations to both on their accomplishments.

KME SHOWS OFF NEW PUMPER
Date: 2/8/06 Tonight, members got a chance to check out Tullytown Bucks County's (www.tullytownfire.com) Engine 33. We are currently in the process of spec'ing out a new pumper. KME fire apparatus wanted to show us Tullytown's new piece of apparatus. We have also had the chance to check out E-One and Seagrave pumpers as well. Bids will be opened on Monday. The new pumper will replace Engine 22. We'll keep you posted!

FIREFIGHTER FUNERAL
Date: 2/4/06 Today, members attended the funeral of Philadelphia (PA) Fire Department Firefighter Tracy Champion. On Saturday January 28, 2006 at 02:31, Fire Fighter Tracy Champion and the members of Engine 54 responded on Box 1233 (55th Street and Lancaster Avenue). Once on location at 1721 North 55th Street they reported that they had a working fire. A few minutes later the incident commander arrived on location and placed all hands in service. The fire was placed under control at 03:04. Around 04:30 Fire Fighter Champion collapsed on the fire ground and a medic unit was requested to the scene. Brother Champion was transported by paramedics to Lankenau Hospital where he passed away at 05:25. Fire Fighter Tracy "Champ" Champion was 49 years old and a 21 year veteran of the Philadelphia Fire Department. He leaves behind a wife and two sons. Brother Champion is the 285th member of the Department to make the ultimate sacrifice since the founding of the PFD in 1871. Services took place at the Sharon Baptist Church in Philadelphia. He was laid to rest at Fernwood Cemetary in Upper Darby, PA The Officers and members of our station sent along our heartfelt condolences to Firefighter Champion's family.
