STUCK IN CLASS
Date: 3/20/07 Tonight, members of the LFC took part in an Elevator Rescue Awareness class. The class was held at Haverford High School. Members learned the basics of how to safely and effectively remove victims from a stalled elevator. While the instructor was demonstrating the techniques learned in a hands-on environment, the elevator actually stalled with 3 members and the instructor aboard the elevator. Fortunately, we were paying attention in class and were able to mitigate the situation. Special thanks to Mike Armstrong from Bucks County Fire Academy for teaching the class and the Haverford High School for allowing us the use of their facilities.

HITTING THE BOOKS
Date: 3/12/07 Tonight, 38 members of the LFC attended HazMat Awareness Certification. The class was held at the firehouse. New members learned about recognizing and identifying hazardous materials, while older members used it as a refresher. Members increased their proficiency in the use of the Emergency Response Guidebook. The night concluded with a written examination. A passing grade will result in a National certification, in addition to a PA State Fire Academy certification. We should hear the results of the test shortly!
