TRAINING DAYS
Date: 6/12/07

Two Firefighters advance into the Burn room of the Haverford Township Training Center. Live Fire Drills are an essential confidence builder for firefighters. The room is equipped with a rapid sprinkler systems and temperatures are monitored by a safety officer, conforming to NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) Safety standards.

EMS Members setting up a Rehab Area out of 34-8. Rehab is designed to hydrate Firefighters and monitor medical condition to help prevent heat emergencies, stroke or heart attack. Temperatures of 75 with 99% humidity has a heat index of 112, combine that with working fire temperatures, Firefighters can easily have a medical problem that could be life threatening if not noticed in time.

Working with Dr. Ed Dickinson from the University of Pennsylvania’s Emergency Department, Dr Dickinson has authored multiple publications in this area and is considered an expert in the nation. He has designed parameters that our EMT’s are trained to look for. With Dr. Dickinson’s training we feel confident Llanerch can play a key roll in preventing medical emergencies on a prolonged event.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Date: 6/13/07 Tonight, was the birthday of Chief John Roberts. Crew President Matt DiSanto presented the Chief with a cake from the Crew with ... LOTS of candles during a weekly training meeting. The Fire Marshal advised us we were in violation of an open flame policy with the LARGE quantity of candles so Chief Roberts was quick to blow them out. Congratulations and Happy 54th Birthday to Chief Roberts.
